Project /Quality Engineer

 

Position Description:

 

Manages and supervises at a project level all engineering and administrative policies, procedures and functions, prepares estimates based on an owner’s/architect’s design intent through construction documents, prepares and maintains schedules, develops and reviews project baselines, monitors and tracks progress, prepares the company for ISO 9000 quality assurance system to develop quality standards and procedures precisely suited to their particular needs and responsibilities. Reports to the Project Executive and/or the Project Manager.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 


-Prepare a contract items list, develop trade requisitions for bid packages, major material/equipment purchases and assist in the purchasing process.

-Conduct quantity take-off and studies for all items incorporated in the project, anticipating details necessary to complete the project.
- Prepares summary and detail level schedules for a variety of project sizes.
-Prepare preliminary estimates and studies during pre construction, monitor design development cost trends in order to detect over-runs and potential problem areas. 

-Perform monthly progress updates and create target comparison and periodic look-ahead schedules. Monitor and track progress at detailed and summary level as necessary.
- Participate in the value engineering process.
-Develop and update periodically cost loaded schedules when required.
-Participate in all project schedule review as required.
- Develop, update and maintain unit cost figures.
- Interface with subcontractors and suppliers and evaluate proposals relative to the scope of the work.

- Prepare General Conditions estimates.
- Process, evaluate, monitor, and control changes to the work.
-Implement engineering management/document control systems.
-Schedule, conduct and document all job meetings, owner-architect and coordination meetings.
-Prepare project status and financial reports data for the PX/PM.
-Prepare subcontract change orders for issuance over the Purchasing Agent’s signature.
-Manage project close out, including securing warranties, guarantees, and acceptance of work, sub contract and vendor close, final payment and records retention.
-Support marketing activities in the development and preparation proposal presentations. This includes developing preliminary bar chart schedules and staffing charts.
-Provide support and training in the use of P3 to office and jobsite personnel as required.
-Prepare the company for ISO 9000 process with the supervision all documentation for procedures.
 

 

Qualifications

 

Four-year college degree with four years of civil engineering, two years of master degree and at least two years of construction experience required. Knowledge accounting principles and cost control procedures. MBA degree preferred. Knowledge of estimating, construction costs, scheduling, purchasing, and engineering principals and techniques, various construction methods and installation procedures; a broad understanding of a wide spectrum of materials, their characteristics and their tolerances and limitations; and a general understanding of the operation of various building systems. Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft office suite of programs, especially Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Power Point, and Microsoft Access.  Proficiency with AutoCad 2000 required. Knowledge of Primavera scheduling required. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the drawings and specifications, general contract and subcontract documents, materials, means and methods. Strong English oral & written communication skills required. ISO9001 Quality System certifications required.
